Tokaj Wine Cellars

The Tokaj wine-growing region, listed on the UNESCO list since 2002, is home to exceptional family wineries with a long tradition. The region offers authentic experiences in historical cellars carved in volcanic tuff.

Ostrožovič Winery in Veľká Tŕňa represents a family company with more than 35 years of history. With 58 hectares of vineyards in the heart of Tokaj, it offers tastings in unique tuff cellars 13 meters underground. Wines mature here in ideal conditions of constant temperature and humidity, while the winery specializes in traditional Tokaj selection wines.

Tokaj Macik Winery is the only BIO certified winery in the Tokaj region. With more than 30 years of tradition, it exports its wines to more than 15 countries worldwide. In addition to tastings in a medieval cellar, it also offers a unique tasting of the first Slovak Tokaj beer and BIO honey from their own apiaries in the vineyards.

Zlatý Strapec, the oldest family winery in Tokaj, welcomes you in a medieval cellar with a capacity of 45 people. It specializes in varietal and archive Tokaj wines. MEA GRATI Winery combines 50 hectares of vineyards with a modern approach and a disc golf course right in the premises.

Special events are also held during the year, such as the Day of Open Tokaj Cellars (September 13) and Tokaj Wine Harvest (September 26-28), which offer a unique opportunity to get to know the local wine culture.
